Reopening & Safety Guidelines

MOCA is fully committed to health and well-being of every visitor and staff member. Museum staff have been closely monitoring and reviewing resources provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Alliance of Museums in order to develop the following protocols for safety:

  • Capacity will be limited based on CDC, Florida Department of Health, Miami-Dade County, and/or the City of North Miami recommendations.
  • While at MOCA, all visitors and staff will be required to practice physical and social distancing (minimum of 6′ per CDC recommendations).
  • No visitor or staff will be granted entry if they are demonstrating symptoms of COVID-19, live with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or have been determined to have had trace-contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • Visitors and staff must wear a face mask or other facial covering at all times.
  • All visitors and staff entering the facility will undergo a temperature check at the front door, and will be denied entry if they are found to have an elevated temperature (100.4 degrees or higher).
  • Visitors are encouraged to use touchless payment methods, including online advanced ticket purchases. Tickets may be purchased here.
  • Restrooms and other high-touch areas will be cleaned and disinfected every two hours.
  • Onsite public programming and group tours continue to be suspended until further notice.
  • Visible signage is in place at the museum entrance indicating that visitors who are ill or demonstrating symptoms of COVID-19 infection should not enter. Further signage indicating rules/protocols that are not typical of normal operations is posted throughout the museum.
  • A sneeze guard has been installed at the museum’s front desk.
  • Hand sanitizing stations have been installed at the front door and in other high-traffic areas.
  • Exhibition layouts have been reviewed and reconfigured in order to allow appropriate social distancing.
  • The MOCA Shop layout has been reconfigured in order to allow appropriate social distancing.
  • Timed tickets are encouraged throughout Miami Art Week (12/1/2020 – 12/6/2020) and admission will be prioritized for those with pre-purchased timed tickets. Timed tickets can be purchased here.
