Creative Arts Summer Camp

Ages 6-12

9 AM – 3:30 PM. Monday-Friday with aftercare to 5:30pm

Students will experiment with a variety of art and design techniques in a creative environment. Taught by gifted art professionals, all projects will be inspired by great works of art, dating from antiquity to the present day.

Journey to the Orient | June 13 – 24, 2016  SOLD OUT

Campers will explore through art making, the magical lands of the Orient, mosaics of Istanbul, elaborate textiles of India, and Ukiyo-e, an ancient printmaking process originated in Japan.

Superheroes | June 27 – July 8, 2016 (no camp on July 4th) SOLD OUT

Referencing classic and contemporary comic book heroes, campers will draw, paint and sculpt their characters and write their adventures.

Japanese Anime & Manga | July 11 – 22, 2016 SOLD OUT

Students will enter the world of Anime and Manga and learn to draw and animate vibrant characters in futuristic, action-packed stories.

Illustrating the Natural World | July 25 – August 5, 2016

Kids get to experience the widely diverse flora and fauna of our own South Florida.  Campers will make both 2D and 3D examples of their favorite plants and animals.

Come Aboard the International Space Station! | August 8 – 19, 2016

Children will draw, paint, and construct robots and space ships, as they study science fiction classics, the NASA space program and discoveries in astronomy.

Dynamic Design

Ages 10-13

9 AM – 3:30 PM. Monday-Friday with aftercare to 5:30 PM

Students will learn about the exciting world of design as they plan and execute their own original creations. They will study the work of world-class designers and meet with professionals in the field. There will also be field trips to design studios and a group exhibition of student work on August 19th. 

The Arts and Craft Movement 1880 – 1920 | June 13 – 24, 2016

Design students study the past to create their own pottery, textile and furniture design.

Create the Future | June 27 – July 8, 2016 (no camp on July 4th)

Descriptions of a futuristic Utopia abound in literature and art. Students use inspiration from great artists and writers to imagine and create paintings and sculptures that illustrates their own future-world.

A Passion for Fashion | July 11 – 22, 2016 SOLD OUT

Imagine if you could actually wear what your imagination dreams up!  From concept to illustration to finished garment, we will learn what it takes to be in the glamorous fashion world.

Create a Recording Label | July 25 – August 5, 2016

What if you could make your own instruments and record an original set of songs?  We will be creating our own recording label complete with logos and merchandise.

Theater and Movies | August 8 – 19, 2016

In the first week, we will study musical theater on Broadway, then write, create sets and perform our own play. The second week will be dedicated to creating stop-motion films with drawn forms and air dry clay.

Enrollment Procedures for Summer Camp

  • Complete registration form below, print and return to MOCA.
  • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited; camp does sell out.
  • You may pre-pay for summer camp and after care below to secure placement.
  • You may also pay in person at MOCA.
  • The registration form, liability waiver, and camp rules must be signed by parent/guardian to complete registration.
  • Summer Camp is designed for children ages 6 and older; children ages 5 and under will not be admitted.
  • Refund policy: parents must cancel in writing. No refunds will be issued after June 9, 2016.
