Adam Léontus (1928-1986)
Adam Léontus (also spelled Léontis) was a first-generation Haitian artist born in Anse-a-Galets, La Gonave. He joined Le Centre d’Art in 1948 and painted one of the murals commissioned for the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Port-au-Prince titled “The Annunciation.” Léontus was known for his village scenes and his sensitive and detailed renderings of birds in magical natural settings.
