In conjunction with MOCA North Miami’s current exhibition My Name is Maryan, MOCA Moving Images presents Ecce Homo, Maryan S. Maryan with Kenny Schneider, 1975 (1 hour 32 minutes). Included in the exhibition, Ecce Homo is one of the last works of the Polish-Jewish artist Maryan. Maryan reenacts Holocaust memories with the use of numerous accessories such as an M16 machine gun, dummies of SS officers, a straitjacket, ropes, and paint.
A panel discussion will follow the screening and feature a conversation with Alison Gingeras and Dr. Oren Stier, FIU. Guest curator Alison Gingeras is a curator and writer based in New York and Warsaw. Gingeras has served as curator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the National Museum of Modern Art, Centre Pompidou Paris, and Palazzo Grassi, Venice.
