Name and title/occupation
Jen Clay, Artist

What are you reading/watching/listening to?
I’ve been rewatching Killing Eve, season three just started too. I watch a lot of day in the life youtube videos, my favorite channel is Paolo from TOKYO.
Also, I’ve been relistening to audiobooks of Jeff Vandermeer’s Area X Trilogy, and This World is full of Monsters now I’ve started on his Dead Astronauts.

How has your work changed now that you are doing it from home?
I am making flat 2-D quilted fiber work that is smaller than the work I usually make. It’s easy to store and roll up to get out of the way quickly. My family shares a dinner table, one of the only clear work surfaces in our apartment, so we sort of schedule in when we use it, which is kind of hilarious.

Have you taken up any new activities?
I haven’t been doing anything amusing other than a Zoom version of lady’s night with friends. I’ve been doing stuff that I’ve put off like updating my website and mending clothes.

What are you looking forward to doing once we are no longer sequestered?
I want to go swimming and camping. I want to take my husband to the Linville Caverns in NC. There are all these places that I love in NC, mostly waterfalls, that I haven’t made time to take him to so we can experience it together. Also, to go on a road trip to see more of the US while my daughter is still a teen.

Do you have a MOCA memory that you want to share?
I was amazed to get the SFCC 2019 catalog in the mail, I didn’t know that there was going to be a catalog at all. It is so thoughtfully put together. Being apart of that exhibit included a lot of firsts for me like not installing and de-installing myself, but the catalog was such as sweet surprise.
