Every first Saturday, children ages 6-12 are invited to tour MOCA exhibitions and learn about the elements of art by renowned artists. This month we are focusing on abstract artist, Alma Thomas. Children will create mandalas inspired by Thomas’ work.

Join us for a film screening of the award-winning film by Raoul Peck, I Am Not Your Negro. This film, written by renowned writer and activist, James Baldwin, contextualizes the complexity of race in America through the tragic deaths of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Medgar Evers.

Art Talk: Gregory Pierre-Louis

Gregory Pierre-Louis, emerging mixed media artist and curator of MOCA’s Fresh Threads exhibition, will discuss his work, influences, and the historical references of fabric in Black art forms.
This event takes place alongside the city of North Miami’s Black History Month Music in the Plaza program from 6-11pm.
