Thinking at the Limits: A Conversation with Carlos Salas
As part of the problematic of the “local-global” dialectic, the 2015 MOCA Contemporary Dialogues stresses the relationship between art, otherness and the altermodern. This conversation examines the question of Latin American art in its relationship to the two notions of alterity and altermodern in order to contribute to MOCA’s Global Imagination proposition for the necessity of new conceptual tools that would allow a better understanding of the social and the cultural in contemporary art. The concept of Thinking at the Limits, defined by Stuart Hall may be a basis for questioning a given theorization and to uncover what is not yet known about a particular case.
