Urban Zen Pop Up /

Urban Zen, Donna Karan's personal retail business, will have a pop-up store at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami during Art Basel Miami Beach and throughout the holidays, featuring artwork, jewelry, and home accessories produced by Haitian artisans. The Urban Zen pop-up store will open on Tuesday, November 29 at 7 pm during the MOCA & Vanity Fair/Vanity Fair International Party.

The Urban Zen pop-up store will feature artwork, jewelry, and home accessories produced by Haitian artisans. Donna Karan, who has been a frequent visitor to Haiti since its earthquake, collaborates directly with the artisans of Haiti, sharing design and manufacturing ideas. Materials such stone, wood, paper, metal, tobacco leaves and horn, are transformed by Haitian hand into objects of beauty. MOCA Director and Chief Curator Bonnie Clearwater said "We are happy to participate with Donna Karan and Urban Zen as we share an interest in the arts in Haiti as the nation rebuilds." MOCA North Miami presented an exhibition in 2010 of metal sculptures by Serge Jolimeau and Michee Ramil Remy from Croix des Bouquets in Haiti.

HOPE HELP & REBUILD HAITI

(HHRH) mission is to create a conscious community of leaders in music, fashion, film, finance and art to become agents of change for the renewal of Haiti. The initiative launched immediately following the January 2010 earthquake as hope help & relief haiti - an initiative of Urban Zen aimed at galvanizing a community in response to Haiti's immediate need to rebuild. Started by Donna Karan - Urban Zen Foundation, music executive Andre Harrell, Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute - Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, and Andre Balazs - The Standard; HHRH has since raised over $2.5 million dollars for Haiti. The current focus of HHRH's work, supported by the William J. Clinton Foundation, is on rebuilding the rich culture, history and artistry of Haiti through its tradition of skilled artists and artisan products.
