MUSIC AT MOCA : FLORIDA GRAND OPERA YOUNG ARTISTS SURVEY OF AMERICAN MODERN OPERA
FRIDAY, MAY 7
Founded in 1984, this program has trained over 150 singers and coaches during its illustrious history. The FGO Young Artists Studio provides a small group of young singers and an apprentice coach/accompanist, selected in national auditions from over six hundred applicants, with performance-based training to prepare them for successful opera careers. Through regular coachings, classes and master classes with FGO staff, international guest artists and teachers, the Young Artists develop their skills in vocal interpretation, style and language and in acting and presentation. In addition to performing and covering roles in FGO’s main-stage productions, the Young Artists are active ambassadors for opera in our community, performing throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties in public schools and community events. Alumni of the Young Artist Studio can be heard in principal roles throughout the US and beyond, and many return to Florida to perform with FGO as principal artists
