The Museum of Contemporary Art, in partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, support, instruction and training for North Miami Senior High, North Miami Middle School, and W.J. Bryan Elementary School educators and students within the Museum and Fine Arts and Communication Academy Magnet Programs.
Originally made possible in part by a $10.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, 7,000 students and 400 faculty members will be using educational methodology that incorporates art, object and project-based learning as a means to encourage critical analysis, invention and problem solving, as well as stimulate visual literacy and build communication skills.
MOCA will host learning expeditions, multiple teacher training workshops, and classroom visitations to model object and project based learning, as well as infusion of the arts into the curriculum. In addition, MOCA will provide opportunities for visiting artists to work within the schools and with the students in creating cooperative works in both the visual and performing arts, and in the communication disciplines.
