Free Weekly Programs

From studio classes to social events, MOCA offers an exciting roster of programs that engage young people ages 13-19 in the vibrant world of contemporary art. MOCA is committed to encouraging middle and high school students to develop their creativity and self-identity. Free after-school, weekend and summer programs in art history, studio art, photography, design, and writing allow middle and high school students to: Assess, evaluate and respond to the characteristics of works of art. Relate the visual arts to history and current culture. Make connections with other like-minded creative teens. Consider career opportunities. Build personal portfolios for higher education auditions. Community service hours available.

mondays  4 - 6 pm   FAshion design

Explore the world of fashion design while learning basic skills and techniques. Free. Application required. + Read more

TUESdays  4 - 6 pm   MOCAZINE / JOURNALISM

Students develop writing and editing skills and work on the MOCAZINE, an arts journal made for teens by teens. Historical perspectives on journalism are examined and new forms of media and creative writing are explored. Free. Application required. + Read more

wednesdays  4 - 6 pm   MOCA JUNIOR DOCENTS

Students are introduced to careers in the arts as they gain behind the scenes access to MOCA.  Participants receive instruction in art history and develop writing, research and public presentation skills. Free. Application required.  + Read more

wednesdays  4 - 6 pm   teen pHOTOGRAPHY

Students learn about contemporary photography, photojournalism and professional practices and acquire technical proficiency in studio lighting, dark room techniques, editing and composition.  Students develop a body of work suitable for portfolios, exhibitions and publications. Students will develop painting skills and techniques through the study of renowned artists.  All materials provided. Free. Application required. + Read more

Contemporary Art Club is MOCA's fresh new social group for young poeple ages 15-18.  Meet art enthusiasts, experience the exciting world of contemporary art and participate in special social events, interactive exhibition tours, artist studio visits and so much more!
