Creative Arts Summer Camp  (June 9 – August 8, 2014)

Learn! Building Blocks of Art

Open to 7-10 year olds
June 9-20, 2014: Monday through Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with free after care from 4-5:30 p.m.

This two-week camp will provide instruction to develop students’ fundamental art skills in drawing and painting by studying the works of renowned contemporary artists such as Chuck Close, Tracey Emin, Jack Pierson and Yayoi Kusama.  Additionally, students will take part in field trips twice a week to local cultural institutions, collections, and art galleries.  Students will also create their own mini-portfolio to continue improving their skills.

DISCOVER! Nature in Miami

Open to 7-10 year olds
July 14-25, 2014: Monday through Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with free after care from 4-5:30 p.m.

This two-week camp will explore contemporary artists who study and work with nature.  Two weekly field trips to Miami’s premier parks, historical institutions and artist residencies will take place where students will engage in workshops with local artists to create individual projects inspired by nature.  Work of contemporary artists such as Ana Mendieta, Robert Smithson, and Yoko Ono will be explored in a variety of techniques, such as poetry, photography, sculpture, painting and more!

CREATE! Imaginarium

Open to 7-10 year olds
July 28- August 8, 2014: Monday through Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with free after care from 4-5:30 p.m.

In this two-week camp, students will learn how leading contemporary artists such as Wangechi Mutu, Anna Gaskell, Inka Essenhigh and Chiho Aoshima, incorporate fantasy and imagination in their bodies of work.  Working with visiting artists, students will transform the classroom into their own make believe world by designing and building sculptural works and art installations.  Parents will be invited to a closing celebration to view students’ work.
